Burglary attempt in Modena, Italy

During a short visit to Modena, we parked the car on the ring road outside the city walls along the street with a short parking lane. This is a busy pedestrian street with parking lanes on both sides. The vehicle was locked and the mobile alarm system activated.

At 2.57 pm I received an alarm message from my mobile alarm system. 5 to 10 minutes later I was at the vehicle. The triangular window on the passenger side had a large enough hole to reach through. The passenger door was slightly open. Inside the vehicle there were valuables that were not visible from the outside, but could easily be found when staying in the vehicle, apparently untouched (e.g. tablet, laptop, coins for parking ticket machine, navigation device). The local police arrived shortly after me, whom I had alerted on the way to the vehicle.

Apparently the perpetrator was disturbed by the loud siren of the alarm system.

I filed a complaint with the police and was referred to a Citroen garage. The installation of a new windscreen the next day was charged at 256.20 euros.
